Fenerbahçe off to a flying start in the #CLVolleyM

Article

The Turkish side of Fenerbahçe begun their #CLVolleyM 2022 campaign in an excellent manner after seizing a 3-0 victory over the French AS Cannes Dragons. In a match that lasted 91 minutes, the players around head coach Daniel Castellani were more precise in the deciding moments, and finishing with as many as 44 winning spikes compared to 35 for AS Cannes Dragons, proved better in this component. The guests, on the other hand, were more successful on the blocking (10 to eight).

The first set set the tone for a very exciting match ahead and fans, watching the match on EuroVolley.TV weren’t disappointed in the end of it. With the teams fighting hard for each point, a successful block Salvador Hidalgo Oliva and an ace by Yacine Louati in the end became the key to the Turkish success in the opener. Both sides were showing rather equal performances on the different counts - finishing the first set with the same number of blocks (4) and aces (1). The guest were slightly better on attack (16 to 14) but one more error costed them the set-win.
The same scenario unfolded in the second set, as both Fenerbahce HDI Istanbul and AS Cannes Dragons delivered high class Volleyball. However, the hosts were able to improve their attacks (14 to eight winning spikes), while as many as four kill blocks weren’t enough for the French. The third set was a hard-fought as well. In the end of it, the outside spiker of the guests - Daniel Gruvaeus suffered an ankle injury with the results being 22-21 for the Turkish.
The French star Yacine Louati grabbed the MVP award, finishing with as many as 20 points to his name (two blocks and two aces).
