Match Report

Vero Volley MILANO v Volero LE CANNET

Article

Amazing night for Vero Volley at the Allianz Cloud in Milan, where Orro and her teammates beat the French side Volero Le Cannet 3-1 in comeback and give themselves away, on the sixth and final day of the group stage of the CEV Champions League, the first place in Pool B and the direct passage to the Quarter Finals. A lucid, determined and above all orderly performance was needed for Marco Gaspari's formation and so in the end it was, thanks to the important entries of Stysiak, Davyskiba and Stevanovic, who gave a decisive swerve to an uphill confrontation. Le Cannet, in fact, after the minute's silence dedicated to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, takes the field with the attitude of the first leg: a lot of defense, blocking precision and great effectiveness in the counterattack, with Akimova and Kotikova putting even the reception of the Italians. Once the first set was won, the transalpines confirmed themselves also in the prologue of the second, creating headaches for Larson from nine meters and for Thompson from the block, with Gaspari who tried everything by changing his offensive ends. The move turns out to be spot on, with the guests finding no continuity solutions and Milan doing the opposite, finding in an extraordinary Parrocchiale (final MVP) to fly on every ball putting Orro, together with a super Sylla, in the conditions to orchestrate at the better game. Once the second set is won, the Milanese never stop: the trio Stysiak, Davyskiba and Rettke put their signature on the three partials and give the fifth success out of six outings to Vero Volley. Waiting to meet its next opponent, the first women's team of the Vero Volley Consortium is enjoying the passage, for the second season in a row, to the final phase of the top continental competition for Clubs.MVP: Parrocchiale (Vero Volley Milano)

“Finally this victory has arrived. It's a success we wanted and which, in addition to giving us the first place in the group, allows us to rest without playing in the round of 16. It was a battle but I'm happy for all of us, because we came out of the difficulties with character, even if we still have some drops when we're up by many points. We have reacted with determination in times of difficulty, in front of this wonderful audience, and we have to start from here."

Beatrice Parrocchiale
MVP and player of Vero Volley Milano

Tonight we missed the experience tonight. In the moments that mattered we were unable to express our volleyball and we suffered from their approach. Milano playes better and show up an amazing performance. Surely we can grow and above all look to the future with enthusiasm: it's our first time in the final phase of CEV Champions League. Let's see the 8th Finals with determination".
