The earthquake disaster we experienced last week and the pain of my beautiful country are still inside us. Today, I would like to thank our nation, who acted together in these difficult days through you, and to everyone who supported us physically or with the messages they sent, for the purpose of aid and rescue, rather than evaluating the before or after the match.

    Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL outclass ŁKS Commercecon ŁÓDŹ

    Fenerbahçe Opet Women's Volleyball Team faced ŁKS Commercecon ŁÓDŹ in the sixth and last match of CEV Champions League Group D.

    The match took place in the Max-Schmeling-Halle Berlin as all national and international sports activities in Türkiye were postponed due to the earthquake disaster. 

    Fenerbahçe outclassed the opponent in three sets, and finishing second in Pool D, qualify to the playoff phase. Same goes about ŁKS Commercecon ŁÓDŹ who will fight in the playoffs as well but as third best ranked team across all pools. 

    Melissa Vargas, who finished the game with 31 points, was named MVP of the match.

    Before the competition, a minute of silence was held to honour the victims of the earthquake, and the players of Istanbul took the field wearing black ribbons.

    Fenerbahçe Board Member, Simla Türker Bayazıt also attended the game, where the fans were not allowed for security reasons.

    The “Yellow Angels” won the first set 25-22 thanks to a balanced game, played comfortably in the second set (25-16). After a hard-fought third set (28-26), the Istanbul team congratulated themselves with the win.
