We are ready to play at a high level and expect our fans to support us.”

"We are proud to be here and play the Quarter Finals of this competition for the second straight time. It is never easy to play in Istanbul: the experience of the last season against VakifBank in the Pool of CEV Champions League is proof, but our goal is to come back to Milano with a good result. There will need patience, especially when they will be aggressive, and at the same force to push with our skills, especially with the serve, block, and defense".

Match Report

VakifBank ISTANBUL v Vero Volley MILANO

Article

VakifBank ISTANBUL is now one step closer to going through to the Semi-Finals. The reigning Champions League champions secured a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) over Vero Volley MILANO and the unbeaten track record for VakifBank continues!

After the match, the head coach of VakifBank Istanbul, Giovanni Guidetti, said that they were focused on blocks which are definitely shown in the statistics. They had 10 kill blocks in all three sets and on the other side, Vero Volley had – three.

The first set started off completely equally on both sides (13-13) where the chance to turn over the match had VakifBank with seven points in the row (from 17-15 to 23-15). At this point, the set was "finished" and they secured the win by 25-18.

The second set was a show done by VakifBank. They were in the lead since the first point and they did not let the advantage away until the end of the set (25-19). And the exact same thing happened in the last set where Milano looked as if they gave up. VakifBank was in the lead since the beginning and the advantage stayed on point until they closed the whole match by 25-17.

The MVP and the top scorer was Paola Egonu with 21 points.
