Projekt WARSZAWA
- Projekt WARSZAWA compete in the Champions League for the third time, after 2019/20 and 2020/21. They failed to progress from the group stage in their previous two campaigns (as Verva WARSZAWA Orlen Paliwa).
- Projekt WARSZAWA lost this season's opening match 2-3 to Dinamo MOSCOW on 1 December. They had won their opening match in both 2019/20 and 2020/21.
- This will be Projekt WARSZAWA's fourth Champions League match played at home in Warsaw. In the 2019/20 group stage, they defeated TOURS VB and Benfica LISBOA in straight sets, but lost 1-3 to Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA..
- Each of Projekt WARSZAWA's last three Champions League matches were decided in five sets: against Leo Shoes MODENA (win) and Kuzbass KEMEROVO (loss) in 2020/21, and versus Dinamo MOSCOW (loss) in 2021/22. They had not played a five-setter in their first 10 matches in the competition.
- Projekt WARSZAWA could record three successive defeats in the Champions League for the first time.
- Bartosz Kwolek (13) picked up the most points for his team in the 2-3 loss versus Dinamo MOSCOW. In 2020/21, Kwolek (80) finished as Projekt WARSZAWA's top scorer in the Champions League.
Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA
- Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA are participating in their second Champions League season, after 2015/16. They reached the Playoffs 12 in that campaign, where they were eliminated by Polish team PGE Skra BELCHATOW.
- Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA won seven of their nine Champions League matches. The exceptions were a 0-3 group stage defeat against Dinamo MOSCOW and a 1-3 loss versus PGE Skra BELCHATOW in the Playoffs 12. NOTE: One of Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA's wins is a 3-0 awarded win against Dinamo MOSCOW in the 2015/16 group stage.
- Wouter ter Maat won 20 points in Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA's 3-0 win against VC Greenyard MAASEIK in this season's opening leg on 1 December, at least double the amount of any other player in that match (10 by teammate Martin Atanasov).
- Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA finished runners-up in last season's Challenge Cup. Ter Maat (128) and Atanasov (112) finished respectively in first and third place on the top scorer list.
- Ter Maat finished as Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta ISTANBUL's top scorer in the 2019/20 Champions League on 93 points.
