- Trentino Itas will play the last home match of Pool E of 2022 CEV Champions League on Thursday and it will be against Perugia. During this season, this competition has already been played four times, between matches of SuperLega, Champions League and Italian Super Cup, with two victories each.
- The points at stake are important, especially for Trentino Volley that, after having strengthen its second position in the pool thanks to the victory 3-0 in Istanbul last 26th January, is trying to reach an important result to continue its race for qualification to quarter finals, in which can join only the first teams ranked of all the five pools and the best three teams second ranked. To do so, Trentino Itas has to win as many points and victories as possible between Thursday match and the match on Wednesday 16th February in Cannes.
- Trentino Itas will face Perugia for the 44th match in its history; the report is 22 to 21 victories, the last one dates back to last 2nd January, at home. This will be the 8th Italian derby with Perugia for Trentino Volley in European cups. The latest match was played against the Umbrian in the double semifinal match of 2021 (18th and 24th), in Champions League too, and it was favourable for the yellow-blue team. In its records, there is also a tricoloured match with Piacenza in quarter finals of 2017 CEV Cup (double victory, 3-0 in away-game and 3-1 at home) and five with Lube (all in Champions League): 3-0 in 2009 semifinal, 2-3 and 3-0 in 2012 Playoff 6, 3-0 in 2016 semifinal, 1-3 and 2-3 in 2018 quarter final, 0-3 and 1-3 in 2020 group stage.
- On Thursday, Trentino Volley will play its 916th match in its history, the 191th international one, the 109th in CEV Champions League, competition in which there are 85 victories and 23 defeats. At BLM Group Arena, Trentino Volley won 43 out of 49 matches played in Champions League. The last defeat was almost two years ago on February 13th 2020: 1-3 against Civitanova.

Match Report
Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA secured a sport in #CLVolleyM quarter - finals by beating TRENTINO Itas
Article
This evening a hard-fought match was played in Trento between two big contenders of Pool E in #CLVolleyM.
Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA, the favorite of its Pool, strongly wanted to secure a spot in the #CLVolleyM: but they had to overcome TRENTINO Itas.
The Italian derby was positive for Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia. After the 3-0 in the first round last 2nd December, it won the second round with the same score, winning first place mathematically in Pool E. As a consequence, they deserved the qualification in the #CLVolleyM quarter-finals.
The match started with particular situations in the two teams, as Oreste Cavuto was forced to pay as a middle blocker, and Marko Podrascanin couldn't play due to an injury. Due to injuries, Russo and Ricci were always missing on the opponent's side.
At the beginning of the match, Simone Giannelli, a player of Perugia for 12 seasons, returned to Trento to play against his former team.
Cavuto first serves (when Andreson is in front of him), and Leon first points suddenly.
RYCHLICKI scored an ace on Lavia, and immediately Leon scored another point (0-3).
Trento suddenly showed some matters in reception, with Michieletto being stopped by Leon. Perugia's wall immediately slowed down Trento, and Lorenzetti was forced to call the first time out (0-4).
Anderson was blocked by Lavia, who risked an injury (4-9).
Three errors out of 11 points for Trento led the Italian team in an adverse situation, and then there was the first point for Michieletto (6-11)
Leon overcomes the triple block (6-13) by Trentino ITAS, showing all his strength. The first dispute came after a pipe of Anderson that stepped out the line.
Leon brought his team to 23 points, and then Travica entered the court and helped his teammates win the set.
The match was fought even in the second and third sets when Trento proved generous and efficient at the net.
In the second set, the two teams began head-to-head.
Lavia blocked Rychlicky (12-11), beginning to scare the opponents; then Sir Sicoma PERUGIA's coach Gribck advised its teams to focus on Lavia and Michieletto.
A mistake by Michieletto himself led the set to 16-17.
Then, Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA started to lead and didn't stop (6-28), arriving at the set ball and eventually winning the second set.
Leon led again in the third set, with three aces and only two mistakes.
The best scorer of the match was Wilfredo Leon, who scored 21 points and produced 16 winning spikes, with 70% in attack, two blocks and three aces; The Cuban was also awarded as the best player. For Trentino Itas, Lavia (17 points) and Michieletto (16) were the best and last to give up.
