Vero Volley MONZA romp to their second home win beating LP SALO in straight sets

Article

Vero Volley Monza cheers to Christmas 2021 with an important 3-0 win over LP Salo in the third match of Pool B of the CEV Champions League. It’s their second consecutive home win beating Mulhouse in previous leg. The game was also a chance to see the absentees of the last period - Mihajlovic and Gennari who were back on the field on Tuesday and played crucial role in their team;s success over the champions of Finland. In the opening set they started with 8-2 lead improving it further to 21-11 with Stysiak and Lazovic hammering hard and Moretto following them well. But when the Italians left some space, the guests showed their tooth, too with impressive attacks from Kosonen and Kuuesela putting Becheva in troubles in the second set, which Salo started strong (8-5) and kept it close until the end of this part. With 2-0 on the scoreboard, Monza began the third set well. Zakchaiou was stopping the hits from Andrikopoulou, Gennari was smashing smart to get MVP award and Stysiak, who gave substitution for Van Hecke, didn’t miss the opportunity to leave her mark, too. Vero Volley won and closed the year of CEV Champions League with a sweet smile, waiting to return to the European court in match against Mulhouse in France on January 19th. Th Finnish team will face VakifBank in Istanbul.

"There are no easy matches in CEV Champions League. They pushed with the serve, creating some problems to our reception, but in the end we run away with determination in the key moments. I'm happy not only about the way we played and about our win, but especially because Mihajlovic and Gennari are back. Tonight Moretto played also good: it's important that we are all one team and we can fight together for a win."

Beatrice Parrocchiale
libero of Vero Volley Monza

"Monza is a strong team and the Italian Championship is stronger than our league. Tonight we needed to play at high level constantly but, apart second set, we didn't do it. I liked the way we played in serve, reception and defense in the second set. Unfortunately we weren't able to do the same in the first and third, but we can learn from this match for the future".

Jessica Kosonen
outside spiker of LP Salo
